In 1996 a group of Kırmanj who have contributed to Kırmanji literature formed a group called Vate Study Group in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. The group realized 33 meetings from 1996 to 2021. At these meetings they attempted to do the work necessary for the standardization of Kırmanji written language. The most common words used in the daily language were selected and standardized, word roots and prevalance having been taken into account. Furthermore spelling rules have also been discussed during these work sessions. Vate Journal which began its publishing life in the summer of 1997 and has published 69 issues to date, applies the decisions taken at the meetings. Of the 50.000words in the compilation,more than 10.000 were basic words, selected, evaluated and designated as the standard form for written Kırmanji in “Ferhengê Kirmanckî (Zazakî)-Tirkî” and “Türkçe-Kırmancca (Zazaca) Sözlük”in their repective 5th edition, in 2016 and 2019. Decisions concerning spelling rules were published in the “Rastnuştişê Kirmanckî (Zazakî)” spelling guide.
The publishing policy of Vate Publishing House, founded in İstanbul in 2003 and taken on the name of Vate Study Group and Journal, is to adhere to and maintain the linguistic work on Kırmanji (Zazaki) written formby the Vate Study Group and to publish books in Kırmanji.Following its establishment,Vate Publishing House undertook the publication of Vate Journal,starting with the 21st issue.Vate Journalhas been published by Vate Publishing House to date, including the 69th issue. Since its establishment, Vate Publishing House has published 72 books inKırmanji, 5 in Kurmanji, 1 in Sorani, 1 in English, 30 in Turkishthus making the total numberof books,109 in all.
